Hello everyone! My name is Tobgay, and I used to be a teacher in Bhutan, where I undertook various roles in human capacity development. Over the years, my deep interest in psychology enabled me to connect with students on a profound level, enhancing my ability to support and nurture individuals. However, life had a different path in store for me, leading me to Australia, where I embarked on a new and equally fulfilling journey in the disability care sector in March 2022.

Joining the incredible team at Jane’s Care marked a pivotal moment. From the outset, I was welcomed into a supportive and diverse environment that valued compassion, teamwork, and professional growth. As I settled into my role, I quickly realised that my previous experience in education and psychology provided a strong foundation for understanding and supporting individuals with disabilities. This transition was not only about acquiring new skills but also about deepening my empathy and reinforcing my core values of kindness and care.

Through continuous training and hands-on experience, my understanding of disability care grew significantly. Jane’s Care offered not only the essential knowledge but also an atmosphere that encouraged my development. The organisation’s commitment to high-quality service delivery inspired me to give my best each day.

Taking on the role of a team leader was both a challenge and a privilege. Working alongside colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds, I learnt the importance of adaptability, patience, and mutual respect. Each team member brought unique strengths, and together, we fostered a positive and inclusive working environment. The participants we support have also taught me invaluable lessons in resilience, joy, and the significance of simple moments.

Looking back, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. The journey thus far has been one of immense learning, personal growth, and countless unforgettable memories. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Jane’s Care for the unwavering support, the trust placed in me, and the opportunity to work in such a rewarding role. The welcoming atmosphere, the teamwork, and the impact we have on the lives of our participants are things I will always cherish.
